Cindy Pickard writes: "Carl Oscar Holmes & Gesche (Rolfs)
Holmes were my grandparents. Carl Oscar was usually called "Oscar".
He was the son of Nels Christian Holmes and Ingeborg (Fredrikson) Holmes.
Gesche was the daughter of Christian Theodore Rolfs and Louise (Wittorf)
Rolfs. They had 5 children: Nels Oscar Holmes, Harold Holmes, Kermit Holmes,
Lois Holmes, and Carol Jean (Holmes) Pickard."

This
is my aunt Lois Holmes. She was a daughter of Oscar Holmes and Gesche
(Rolfs) Holmes. When I was young, she moved out to California. We
went out to visit her several times. When she died, my mother had
her brought back to Omaha, and she is buried beside her parents
at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
