Fairview is an old cemetery. It sits on one of the highest spots in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and has a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, which also includes the downtown Omaha skyline, as you can see by the photo below.

You can’t see it from this point, but the Missouri River is there between the two cities; it divides Nebraska and Iowa. Although they are in different states, for all intents and purposes the Omaha/Council Bluffs area is one city.  

This is just about the highest point in the cemetery.  The road in the picture is fairly level, but the cemetery itself meanders over the hillside in a haphazard fashion.  A few of the roads are not passable; they are old and unpaved, and I wouldn’t recommend driving on them unless you have a Range Rover.  

I had taken a picture of the Fairview entrance at least 6 times, and they all came out blurry; this one finally was sharp and clear.  There may be a spirit hovering around the gates that doesn’t like photographers.
